Ambassador Christian School Student Safety: What Parents Need to Know
You’ve done the work of teaching your teen to be careful, pay attention, and make wise decisions. Still, you know that safety isn’t something they can manage on their own. It depends on the environment they’re in and the people who surround them.
That’s why school safety matters so much to parents like you. According to a Gallup poll, 38% of U.S. parents fear for their child’s physical safety while at school — a percentage that ranks among the highest in the past two decades. When your teen spends nearly 35 hours a week on campus, you want to feel confident that everything is covered, from arrival to athletics.
At Ambassador Christian School, we’ve designed the student experience with your teen’s safety and well-being in mind. Keep reading to explore the systems, partnerships, and practices that help our students feel secure — and give parents greater peace of mind.

From the moment students arrive, the ACS team puts safety into action. While the campus feels warm and welcoming, behind the scenes are carefully integrated layers of protection — tailored to both current needs and future growth.
Ben McDaniel, Director of Operations, explains, “We’ve invested in systems with our future student body in mind. Our goal is to keep everyone safe without compromising the environment parents and students love.”
We utilize the Raptor safety system for check-ins and visible ID badges for all. In addition, the presence of a School Resource Officer in partnership with the Town of Huntersville, adds an additional layer of preparedness for emergency planning.
The ACS Team also conducts regular emergency drills using the Raptor alert app, which allows teachers to initiate lockdowns and send updates to parents in real-time.
“Every drill is different because every situation is different,” explains Scott Taylor, Dean of Students. “We want students to know what safety looks like — not just hear about it.” This thoughtful structure reflects the shared commitment our whole team has when it comes to student safety at Ambassador Christian School.
Empowering Digital Stewardship
Digital safety is just as important as physical security, especially for teens who carry access to the internet in their pockets. At ACS, students learn how to use technology responsibly through a combination of structure and trust.
The campus runs two separate Wi-Fi networks. Student access is filtered and monitored to encourage safe browsing, while teachers help guide students in using digital tools wisely. Conversations around AI are part of the learning process, helping students understand when it’s appropriate and how to use it with integrity.
“It’s about digital stewardship,” says Ben McDaniel. “We want students to build habits that reflect both integrity and discernment.”This balanced approach to technology safety at Ambassador Christian School helps students grow in maturity while staying protected online.
Top-Tier Protection for Student-Athletes
When it comes to athletic safety, ACS takes no shortcuts. Through a strategic partnership with VICIS, all football players now wear top-ranked helmets — the same ones used by NFL athletes.
“The VICIS helmet is consistently ranked number one in national safety studies,” explains Jay Poag, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. “Through our relationship with BSN Sports and our growth as a Nike and Jordan school, we were able to make this investment for every player.”

By removing cost as a barrier, we make sure that performance never comes at the expense of safety. And with VICIS choosing ACS to become part of a national ad campaign, the message is clear: we’re a school that puts student-athlete protection front and center.
A Culture That Balances Faith, Freedom, and Accountability
At Ambassador Christian School, safety goes beyond systems and processes — it also grows from the culture students step into each day. Built on a foundation of biblical truth, our environment encourages students to take ownership of their actions while knowing they’re supported by a community that cares deeply for them.
There’s room here for students to be independent. Whether navigating their schedules, managing responsibilities, or speaking up when something feels off, they’re trusted to take initiative. At the same time, clear expectations such as ID badges, sign-in tracking, and thoughtful campus routines create a sense of accountability for our students.
“Our students feel at ease because they know the adults here have put in the time and care to make this a safe space,” Scott Taylor mentions. “That sense of security gives them the freedom to engage fully in school life.”
